This paper shows the results of the Research Project ¨The School Library: its Organization and its Visibility for the School Executive Team¨ which belongs to a research team, G.I.C.I.S., at the National University of Mar del Plata. The core of this research analyzed the situation of information literacy at the state primary schools of the District of General Pueyrredon.
The school librarian is responsible for establishing and creating information-access and information-use strategies based on referred norms and standards by showing an active attitude towards permanent learning. The challenge is instructing a society who would become informational literate and who would respond to collaborative and interdisciplinary work towards the whole school community which in turn would aim at the recovery of the School Library as a Center for Democratizing Knowledge. The main objective of the Argentinean Educational Policy is ¨to assure good quality education with equal opportunities and possibilities for all¨, for that reason, new IT skills are part of the whole school curriculum in which this professional leads a starring role mediating between information and its users.
